Tips for Taking Pictures of Your Doors and Windows
Describe Your Pain
Show, don’t tell works best here. If you have rot, knowing where it is located on the door/window can be helpful as well as knowing what the extent of the damage is.
Take a lot to Get a Few
With digital photography, you don’t have to worry about whether or not they are good pictures. Take as many as possible and then choose the best 3-5 to send in.
Use Lighting to Your Benefit
Taking a picture of your windows from the inside can flood your lens with light and make it difficult to see that which you are trying to photograph. If you are outside, the falling sunshine can help to highlight the details of your doors and windows.
Utilize Technology
Low resolution (72dpi is sufficient) works best when taking pictures that you plan to e-mail/upload given file sizes of higher resolution images. Sometimes using a cropping feature on your photo software will enhance a picture and make your pain more visible.
